Our client is a small international bank, situated in Amsterdam.
Position
The Accounting & Control unit is responsible for managing and overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and the reconciliation of accounts, while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and corporate policies. This role also includes responsibilities in Custody & Nostro operations, Tax Management, Expense Management, Procurement, and Insurance Administration to ensure efficient financial operations and risk mitigation.
Responsibilities;
Accounting & Control
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS/local GAAP.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Oversee compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and audit requirements.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Approve and review journal entries and adjustments.
- Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal control systems to safeguard financial assets.
- Conduct periodic reviews of processes to ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
- Provide accounting input and insights for budget preparation and financial planning processes.
Custody & Nostro Management
- Oversee custody fee reviews and reconciliations.
- Monitor and reconcile Nostro accounts to ensure proper settlement and clearing of transactions.
- Address discrepancies and liaise with counterparties to resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure accurate reporting and analysis of Custody and Nostro balances.
Tax Management
- Oversee the preparation and submission of VAT, corporate income tax, and other statutory tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with external advisors to optimize tax structures and reduce liabilities.
- Conduct reviews of transactions for tax implications and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate and manage tax audits or inquiries from regulatory authorities.
Expense Management
- Track, analyze, and report operational and capital expenditures.
- Prepare variance analyses and provide insights to management for cost control.
- Ensure all expense claims and invoices comply with internal policies and authorization limits.
- Identify opportunities to optimize operational costs and improve efficiency.
TPRM Procedure
- Oversee the TPRM and procurement lifecycle, from purchase orders to payment, ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
- Regularly evaluate vendor performance and manage procurement risks.
- Conduct market analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Insurance Management
- Oversee procurement and renewal of corporate insurance policies, including property, liability, and employee benefits.
- Ensure adequate coverage to mitigate risks.
- Manage and track insurance claims, ensuring timely settlement and resolution.
- Work with risk management teams to identify areas requiring additional insurance coverage or adjustments.
Engagement with External Auditors
- Coordinate all aspects of external audit processes, including audit planning, information gathering, and report finalization.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and other applicable financial reporting standards.
- Address audit findings, implement recommendations, and monitor improvements to enhance financial control processes.
- Maintain transparent and open communication with auditors to resolve queries and provide clarity on financial statements.
Interaction with Regulatory Supervisors
- Prepare and submit periodic regulatory reports in line with applicable laws and guidelines.
- Act as the primary point of contact during regulatory inspections, ensuring timely responses to queries and provision of required documentation.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to evolving regulatory standards, mitigating the risk of non-compliance.
- Represent the organization during regulatory reviews, demonstrating sound financial management practices.
ESG Metrics Monitoring, EMS
- Track and analyze key ESG performance indicators to assess the organization’s environmental and social impact.
- Collaborate with internal teams to set and monitor sustainability goals.
- Implementing the Environmental Management System (EMS) within YKNV. Ensuring the continuity of the EMS studies.
- Establishing the documentation system in the EMS installation and ensuring the up-to-date, improvement and continuity of the system, following the legal legislation, planning, and conducting trainings.
- To prevent pollution and to manage the elimination of its negative effects by intervening in environmental accidents and emergencies.
Candidate
- A master’s degree in accounting, finance, business economics, or a similar field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Excellent command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with financial software and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Proactive attitude and ability to work independently.
